I am an award-winning writer and novelist based in Brighton. Sometimes writing under the pen names JG Murray and Julian Gyll, I work in multiple genres, from ghostwriting memoirs and true crime to publishing works in fantasy, thriller, horror, literary and science-fiction.

After growing up in Belgium I studied Creative Writing at Warwick University, and went on to win short story prizes such as the Words Just Words prize of 2012 and the Save As Shakespeare prize of 2015. I have written short fiction for a range of outlets such as Aurealis Magazine and BFS Horizons as well as many other short story collections, magazines and podcasts.

One of my proudest achievements is contributing to 24 Stories, a collection of pieces written by the likes of Irvine Welsh and Meera Syal, edited by Kathy Burke and published in order to raise money for the Grenfell Tower Fire survivors. I was teaching in the area when the tragedy occurred, and will never forget witnessing first-hand how that community was affected.

As a novelist I have found success in two areas of fiction, including international Amazon bestselling titles such as the fantasy novel Blade of Ghosts and the psychological chiller The Bridal Party, the winner of the Deviant Minds Thriller Prize.

I spend my time reading, watching horror films, learning about local folklore and walking the South Downs.
